A Photography Trip Off Auto

Towards the end of the year last year I took a photography class online. It was a DSLR course called Snap Shot, Capturing Your Days with Under the Sycamore. Ashley Ann’s blog – Under the Sycamore is the greatest blog I have ever seen! It is so colorful and the way she captures her children and their day to day life is mezmorizing to me. I love the way she captures emotion in her pictures. You should totally check it out if you have a few minutes. After I took her class I took my camera off auto and have started to only take photos in manual. I am still learning but everything on my blog so far has been taken in manual or from my iPhone.

One of my friends wanted some recommendations on places to go in Mendocino and ever since then I keep thinking about how beautiful this place is and wanted to share some of my photos I took while there with you. This was my first practice shoot. I don’t plan on being a professional photographer, I have cassiegreenphotography for that, however, it is a passion of mine that I have always wanted to cultivate. So… why not now. I am always open for any photography help or advice. Below are some of what I consider my best shots from Mendocino.

ISO 200, 1/1000, f/5.6, 55mm

ISO 400, 1/2000, f/5.6, 55mm

ISO 400, 1/4000, f/5, 18mm

ISO 100, 1/320, f/5, 18mm

ISO 100, 1/320, f/5, 28mm

ISO 100, 1/800, f/5, 33mm

ISO 100, 1/320, f/5, 18mm

ISO 800, 1/500, f/5, 25mm

I put under some of the photos what my settings were just in case anyone wanted to know. I had a blast putting into action what I had learned in the Snap Shot course. It helped that the scenery was breath taking and I took 500 pictures to get a few good ones.
